Akanksha Deo, a master of textiles and crafts was listed in Forbes India 30 under 30 in 2020 for the category design. She is currently the only IKEA in-house designer based in India. Her work has been featured in Dezeen, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor India, and Vogue India amongst others. The most recent collection she worked on with fellow designers at IKEA, Förändring won an Elle Decor India Award.
Through her design, Akanksha strives to strike a balance between handicraft and mass production, while exploring the understanding of the concept of ‘home’ across different genres and cultures. Her personal projects include collaborations with various indian fashion brands, a group exhibition in Norway, titled AOTANOTA, and most recently, a collaboration with Levi’s to create a pair of customized denims, with ‘kantha’ embroidery and indigo dye.
